View Full Version : Is these statements about temperature true?
Northern summers are hotter than southern summers.
Northern winters are colder than southern winters.
The Earth is closer to the Sun when it's summer in the south. I can't answer if this is the main reason the summer is hotter in the south though.
The earth is at aphelion - our farthest distance from the sun - in July, and perihelion - closest to the sun - in January.
Consequently, N Hemisphere winters are milder, and summers cooler, than those in the S Hemisphere. (In other words, those statements, No Idea, are the wrong way around :) )
