Graph Vout/Vin vs Log of Frequency: Units?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on graphing the ratio Vout/Vin against the logarithm of frequency. Vout/Vin is dimensionless, while the logarithm of frequency is expressed as log(hertz), indicating that it is also unitless in this context. The importance of using adimensional parameters for clarity in the graph is emphasized. The suggestion is to plot Vout in terms of Vin for better representation.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of logarithmic functions and their applications in engineering.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts, specifically voltage ratios.
  • Knowledge of graphing techniques and data visualization principles.
  • Basic comprehension of frequency measurements in hertz.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the implications of using dimensionless parameters in engineering graphs.
  • Explore advanced graphing techniques in tools like MATLAB or Python's Matplotlib.
  • Study the relationship between frequency and voltage in AC circuits.
  • Learn about the significance of logarithmic scales in data representation.
USEFUL FOR

Electrical engineers, data analysts, and anyone involved in graphing frequency response in circuit analysis.

This is a quick graphing question. We have to graph Vout/Vin versus the log of frequency. Now the Vout/Vin would have no units but what about the log of frequency? Is it hertz or is it also unitless?

log(hertz) obviously! Is it important for your graph?

U need adimensional parameters.Period.Or just plot V_{Out} in terms of V_{in} .

Daniel.

P.S.ln(unit) makes no sense...
