Hmm, you're right. I never even noticed it. I heard the news that Yahoo upgraded theirs to 2gb but not GMail.

I wish GMail had come out years ago. I used Hotmail starting in high school, and by the time I neared the end of college the measley account was 99% full with messages that I didn't want to delete. I moved on to yahoo mail and weened myself off of Hotmail since the latter became effectively useless, but never got around to transferring all my old emails (a Herculean task, since you have to forward each email individually!). It turns out that I finally neglected to log in for about a month, so they deleted EVERYTHING I had. All those high school memories zapped into the ether! bah! At least with GMail I know I'll never have to worry about that...

Just give it a few years. We'll be complaining about when we just got that measley 2 Gb of space and how quickly it filled up with all the family photos.

I dunno, 2GB is plenty. Even if each picture is 1MB, you could have well over a thousand and still have plenty of room to spare for text messages. If they're more like the usual 70-120KB, you could have tens of thousands.

Also, Google seems committed to continually upgrading the space over time instead of keeping it static. Even if they didn't, I think I'd be fine, since I don't really store anything in my accounts other than text, with some exceptions. If I ever get up to 99% usage on a GMail account, it'll be because someone decided to email me the combined text of the Library of Congress or something. :-p

Um...is there any convenient and quick way to forward each email from hotmail to Gmail? (without forwarding each one individually...)

Hmmm gmail seems to keep on going. The counter is up to 2050mb, but looks to be going a little slower.

Personally, I don't like Gmail, because I'm having problems running it on Opera. I just refuse to use IE unless absolutely unavoidable.

I've been using Rediffmail, an India based webmail service, which is fast and provides 1 GB free. Runs fine on Opera too. :approve:

EDIT : Hmmm...gmail seems to be running better on Opera now. I think they've improved their browser compatibility. Good.

I use Firefox with Gmail and I have a plugin that notifies me of any incoming emails.. It just sits on the lower right corner in a widget of Firefox - very nifty. Plus Opera uses too much memory imho

The latest version of Opera seems to have solved the memory footprint problem and has vastly improved stability. And I can't live without the mouse gestures. Yeah, yeah, I know Firefox has a custom plugin for that, but the gestures are slow and cumbersome, without the niftiness of the ones in Opera. Plus I like the tabbed browsing layout much better in Opera.

The only time I have to resort to IE is when certain websites are coded badly. I don't need any browsers other than these two.

Hmm, I have never tried the mouse gestures in Opera, but I use nothing but mouse gestures in firefox and I have never thought of them as slow.

Try them in Opera. A world of difference, I guarantee it.

I never got into using Mouse gestures, they're just not as usefull when you have a mouse with 6 buttons on it
