SUMMARY

The forum discussion centers on the celebration of Richard Feynman, featuring a stamp dedication and public events on May 11, 2005. The unveiling of a special postmark based on a Feynman diagram and a stamp will occur at the Far Rockaway Post Office, followed by readings from Feynman’s books and drumming performances at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Additionally, a related event at Caltech on May 20 will include speeches by notable figures, including Feynman's daughter, Michelle Feynman, and a documentary screening. All events are free and open to the public.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Feynman diagrams in physics
  • Familiarity with Richard Feynman's literary contributions
  • Knowledge of public event organization
  • Awareness of the significance of commemorative stamps
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the significance of Feynman diagrams in quantum electrodynamics
  • Explore Richard Feynman’s major works, including "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!"
  • Investigate the process of designing and issuing commemorative stamps
  • Learn about the role of public events in honoring scientific contributions

Thanks for posting that, robphy. This is very exiting. The Feynman stamp looks extremely well composed: it's a good image of him.

May 20th, eh? I'm only 2 hours from Caltech by car. Thinking...

"Pranksters Create "Scientists' Walk of Fame"

A stretch of the Hollywood Walk of Fame briefly became the "Scientists' Walk of Fame" on May 4, after Caltech students replaced the names of 500 celebrities on Hollywood Boulevard with those of Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Richard Feynman, and Madame Curie. The prank coincided with the release of the U.S.P.S. set of stamps honoring Feynman and three other American scientists."
