Integrated and got position vector

SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on the physics of a tennis ball served horizontally from a height of 2.4 meters with an initial velocity of 30 m/s. The velocity vector is defined as V = 30i - gtj, where g represents the acceleration due to gravity. The position vector is derived through integration, resulting in p = 30ti + (2.4 - 0.5gt^2)j. This formulation accurately describes the motion of the tennis ball over time.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of vector notation in physics
  • Knowledge of kinematic equations
  • Familiarity with calculus, specifically integration
  • Basic concepts of projectile motion
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the derivation of kinematic equations for projectile motion
  • Learn about the effects of air resistance on projectile trajectories
  • Explore advanced integration techniques in calculus
  • Investigate real-world applications of vector analysis in sports physics
USEFUL FOR

Physics students, educators, and anyone interested in the mathematical modeling of projectile motion in sports scenarios.

3. A tennis ball is served horizontally from 2.4 m above the ground at 30m/sec
a) Find its velocity (V) at any time t seconds
b) Find its position vector (r) at any time t second

a) v= 30i - gtj
b) i integrated and got position vector as
p= 30ti(2.4-.5gt^2)j

is that it?

I assume you meant 30ti+ (2.4- .5gt^2)j. If that is so, yes, that's correct.
