Euler's identity

How does y = e^(x(1-i)) + e^(x(1+i))
work out to y = (e^x)sinx + (e^x)cosx???
Obviously, by Euler's identity, (e^x)sinx+ (e^x)cosx= e^(x(1+i)) only, not that sum.
