 P: 77 Okay, and if we draw a closed surface that encompasses a part of both of the materials and crosses the boundary, with no free charges we have $$\int_S \vec D \cdot \hat n dS=0$$, so then the total flux out of the surface is zero, so that would imply that D_{1,2} are just equal, not just the components normal to the surface no?
