Ethylene & Acetylene
We know that ethylene ([tex]C_2H_4[/tex]) can help ripen (climacteric) fruit,
and that acetylene ([tex]C_2H_2[/tex]) can fuel a nice torch. -------------------------------- Now, \\ *What if acetylene is used to ripen fruit??  -Can it do so? Nicely? |

Well the fruit would be rather flammable. I don't know if it will ripen, theough. Why don't you try it?
