SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on finding conferences and workshops related to black hole thermodynamics and the holographic principle. Key resources mentioned include the KITP at UCSB, which hosts high-energy theory events, and the arXiv preprint server, which features a section for conference postings. Other valuable platforms include Conference Monkey and Conference Alert for filtering events by topic and location. The International Society for General Relativity and Gravitation and the Institute for Advanced Study are also recommended for their relevant events.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of black hole thermodynamics
  • Familiarity with the holographic principle
  • Knowledge of academic conference databases such as Conference Monkey and Conference Alert
  • Awareness of the arXiv preprint server and its functionalities
NEXT STEPS
  • Explore the KITP website for upcoming lectures and conferences
  • Utilize Conference Monkey and Conference Alert to find relevant events

Can anyone suggest a good place to look for upcoming conferences and/or workshops pertaining to aspects of black hole thermodynamics and the holographic principle?

In fact, what are some good "central repositories" for conference postings? LANL used to have one, but it frequently got out of date.

The KITP is an important centre for high energy theory - especially string theory - related conferences and lectures and makes proceedings available online:

There are several options for finding upcoming conferences and workshops on black hole thermodynamics and holography. One place to start is by checking the websites of organizations or institutions that specialize in these areas, such as the International Society for General Relativity and Gravitation or the Institute for Advanced Study. These organizations often host conferences and workshops related to their research areas.

Another option is to search for specific keywords on academic conference databases, such as Conference Monkey or Conference Alert. These databases allow you to filter results by topic and location, making it easier to find relevant events. Additionally, many universities and research centers have their own event calendars that you can browse for upcoming conferences and workshops.

As for "central repositories" for conference postings, one option is the arXiv website, which is a preprint server for scientific papers. They also have a section for conference postings, where you can find upcoming events related to black hole thermodynamics and holography. Another option is the Physics Conferences Worldwide website, which lists conferences and workshops in various fields of physics, including black hole thermodynamics and holography.

However, it's important to note that these sources may not always be completely up to date, so it's always a good idea to double check with the conference organizers directly for the most current information. Additionally, keeping an eye on social media or joining relevant online communities or mailing lists can also be helpful in staying updated on upcoming events in these fields.
