SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the paper "Propagation of Light in Doubly Special Relativity" by Kim, Kim, Rim, and Yee, which explores the implications of Doubly Special Relativity (DSR) theories. Participants note that DSR lacks a quantized framework and operates in flat space, with a significant gap in connecting it to General Relativity and Loop Gravity. The conversation emphasizes the need for DSR to investigate curved space and its potential integration into quantized models, while expressing a preference for Kowalski-Glikman's variant over Magueijo's.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Doubly Special Relativity (DSR)
  • Familiarity with General Relativity concepts
  • Knowledge of Loop Quantum Gravity
  • Basic grasp of Planck scale physics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research Kowalski-Glikman’s variant of Doubly Special Relativity
  • Explore the implications of quantization in curved space
  • Study the relationship between General Relativity and Loop Quantum Gravity
  • Investigate Planck scale singularities and their potential resolutions
USEFUL FOR

The discussion is beneficial for theoretical physicists, researchers in quantum gravity, and students interested in the intersections of relativity and quantum mechanics.

Things become infinite near the Planck scale. Killer?

BTW notice that their theory is not yet quantized.

There are a lot of variants of DSR (as you know!) and they
predict different things, but two features they all have in
common is they are not quantum theories
and they happen in flat space.
The bridge to General Relativity and then on to
Loop Gravity (quantized version of it) has not been
constructed yet.

I think it is about time for DSR to put out a feeler into curved space, and blend into some quantized model.

I don't know what Planck scale singularities could be
smoothed out during quantization.

If I had to choose with incomplete information I would
pick Kowalski-Glikman brand DSR over Magueijo brand. And
KimKimRimYee brand might not even get carefully considered.
But I am not making the choices! So I was glad to see their paper.
