AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around the naming of a compound identified as a bispiro with cyclopropyl and ethyl substituents. Participants express difficulty in viewing the provided image link, leading to varied interpretations of the compound's structure. One contributor suggests it resembles a decalin compound, specifically a bicyclo[4.4.0]decane, while another emphasizes the characteristics of spiro compounds, noting that true spiro compounds share only one carbon atom between rings. The complexity arises from the compound potentially having two shared carbon atoms, challenging its classification. Clarification on the naming conventions and structural characteristics of spiro and bicyclic compounds is sought.

How do you name this compound??

I used SpartanBuild to draw it and I copied the picture

Please check the link below:

I'm thinking its a bispiro with a cyclopropyl and an ethyl substituent

Yours truly,

PS: Its only one compound, the picture on the left is just a rotation of the one on the right.

some help is greatly appreciated

anyone

FYI - I can't see the picture you link to there, but I'm at work and they block some sites weird...

It looks like a decalin compound, also known as a bicyclo[4.4.0]decane. That should get you started.
Now you need to figure out the numbering system for this decahydronaphthalene compound.

shouldn't it be a spiro compound?

i'm not sure but we just took this in class this week and we've been taught that if the carbon atoms are shared its supposed to be called a spiro compound.

spiro compounds have only 1 carbon common to both rings. This has two.

I don't get how to argue it. i can prove: evolution is the ability to adapt, whether it's progression or regression from some point of view, so if evolution is not constant then animal generations couldn`t stay alive for a big amount of time because when climate is changing this generations die. but they dont. so evolution is constant. but its not an argument, right? how to fing arguments when i only prove it.. analytically, i guess it called that (this is indirectly related to biology, im...
