shift register with or without latch


hi guys, i wanna ask a question. what's the difference if i use shift register with and without latch. i've done some experiments and the output is the same but will it effect its efficiency? thank u. =)

This is a very open-ended question. Are you using a serial-serial, serial-parallel, or parallel-serial shift register? What part number are you using?
