Hello all

I was just wondering whether Richard Courant's Differential and Integral Calculus Volumes 1 and 2 would be appropriate for studying AP Calculus AB and BC. Would I be able to learn most of the topics covered in these courses just by using these books? I am asking this, because I do not want to spend money on big, modern, and expensive books.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

for your question! While Richard Courant's Differential and Integral Calculus books are certainly reputable and well-respected texts, they may not be the most appropriate choice for studying AP Calculus AB and BC. These courses cover a specific set of topics and skills that are required for the AP exams, and it's important to use a book that is specifically designed for this purpose. Courant's books may cover some of the same material, but they may not be organized in the same way or provide the same level of detail that is needed for success on the exams.

Additionally, the AP exams often include questions that require knowledge and application of specific calculator and computer software, which may not be covered in Courant's books. It's important to use a book that includes practice problems and examples that reflect the format and content of the AP exams.

That being said, if you are on a budget, there are many affordable options available for AP Calculus review books that are specifically tailored to the AP exams. You can also look into borrowing books from a library or purchasing a used copy of a more recent edition. Ultimately, it's important to use a book that aligns with the content and format of the AP exams to ensure that you are adequately prepared. Good luck with your studies!
