Some physicists say that the Universe at it's most fundamental level is an information wave. Is this true, false, or unknown?

Information wave
It sounds like a religion to me.
Did you know that we are all one? The universe at its most fundamental level is indeed energy and so everything is made up of waves kind of, but what that says about anything you are probably best left leaving to wise men and the religious minded. Yeah man we're all bits in one big computer program dude! And this'll fry your mind the programmer is you! I'm not a big fan of all this information nonsense, and holographic universes etc. It sounds like the meanderings of bored theoretical physicists in the time they spend between watching for results at CERN. It's kind of like the scientific version of doodling.

MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF HOLOGRAM
A light wave can be modeled by a complex number U which represents the electric or magnetic field of the light wave. The amplitude and phase of the light are represented by the absolute value and angle of the complex number. The object and reference waves at any point in the holographic system are given by U(o) and U(R). The combined beam is given by U(o) + U(R). The energy of the combined beams is proportional to the square of magnitude of the electric wave: (Uo+UR)2 If a photographic plate is exposed to the two beams, and then developed, its transmittance, T, is proportional to the light energy which was incident on the plate, and is given by T=k(U(o)+U(R))2 where k is a constant. When the developed plate is illuminated by the reference beam, the light transmitted through the plate, U(H) is U(H)=T*U(R) It can be seen that U(H) has four terms. The first of these is proportional to U(o), and this is the reconstructed object beam. The second term represents the reference beam whose amplitude has been modified by U(R)2 . The third also represents the reference beam which has had its amplitude modified by U(o)2 ; this modification will cause the reference beam to be diffracted around its central direction. The fourth term is known as the "conjugate object beam."
