AI Thread Summary
Nucleonica.net has transitioned to a paid model, prompting users to seek free alternatives for radiation dose information. The Health Physics Society's website provides useful resources and links for radiation safety information. Participants in the discussion are looking for reliable substitutes that offer similar functionalities without cost. Suggestions include exploring academic institutions or government resources that may provide free access to radiation data. Finding a comprehensive, no-cost alternative remains a priority for users needing reliable radiation shielding information.

I used to use Nucleonica.net from Karlsruhe when ever I needed information about
dose from a radiation source behind a reference shielding for example.

This site is no longer free of charge. Do you know any good substitutes?

Hello, I'm currently trying to compare theoretical results with an MCNP simulation. I'm using two discrete sets of data, intensity (probability) and linear attenuation coefficient, both functions of energy, to produce an attenuated energy spectrum after x-rays have passed through a thin layer of lead. I've been running through the calculations and I'm getting a higher average attenuated energy (~74 keV) than initial average energy (~33 keV). My guess is I'm doing something wrong somewhere...
