Probability over space or time in spacetime

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the concept of exclusive probabilities in spacetime, specifically whether quantum probabilities can be distinctly separated into spatial and temporal components. The consensus leans towards the assertion that quantum probabilities related to distance and time are fundamentally underdetermined by the structure of spacetime itself. This indicates a limitation in applying classical probability frameworks to quantum phenomena within the context of spacetime.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of quantum mechanics principles
  • Familiarity with spacetime concepts in physics
  • Knowledge of probability theory
  • Basic grasp of quantum uncertainty principles
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the implications of quantum probabilities in spacetime frameworks
  • Explore the concept of underdetermination in quantum mechanics
  • Study the relationship between classical and quantum probability theories
  • Investigate the role of quantum uncertainty in spatial and temporal measurements
USEFUL FOR

Physicists, quantum mechanics researchers, and students studying the intersection of probability theory and spacetime concepts.

Is it proper to speak of exclusive probabilities over space and time in spacetime?

That is, by separation into distance and time, can spacetime manifest quantum probabilities and uncertainties?

(I assume not, that quantum probabilities of distance and time are underdetermined by spacetime.)
