Workfunction of Compounds

Hello,

I would like to find out (or calculate) what the work function of AlGaN is. I do not really understand how to calculate workfunction for compounds.

I know that the work function of Al is 4.06-4.26eV and Ga is 4.32eV... I can't find N.

Is it possible to do a calculation for a compound?

Thanks in advance!

Natalie

It is not possible to calculate the work function of a compound from that of the elements making up the compound as it is also not possible to calculate the melting point of e.g. NaCl from that of Na and of Cl2.
To calculate the work function you need sophisticated software for quantum mechanical calculations.
