Examples of progress due to the Copernican Principle?

Heliocentrism is a main example of how a physical law changed due to the Copernican Principle - that is, that we as humans on the Earth are not privileged or special in the universe.

Are there many other examples from the history of science where a major advance in the development of a physical law has arisen from an application of the Copernican Principle?
