Struggling with Modeling an Inline Web Manufacturing System: Can Anyone Help?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on the challenges of mathematically modeling an inline web manufacturing system that combines incremental and constant velocity processes through an accumulation tower. The goal is to create a dynamic model to simulate both current and modified throughput for process improvement justification. Despite the system's seemingly basic structure, the user has struggled to develop an effective model. Participants suggest providing a sketch and additional details to facilitate assistance. The conversation emphasizes the need for collaborative input to overcome modeling difficulties.

I am having serious difficulty attempting to mathematically model an inline web manufacturing system that we are attempting to modify in house. The model would be a dynamic model that would simulate the current throughput of the machine as well as the modified throughput to justify the process improvement that we are evaluating.

The current system integrates an incremental process step with a continuos velocity process step via an accumulation tower, and that is basically the complexity of the model. It seems pretty basic, but I have not been able to develop an effective model for this process yet. There are basically three components in this dynamic system 1) Incremental Velocity Component 2) Accumulator Tower 3) Constant Velocity Component. Does anyone know where I can get some help modeling this system?
