Normalizing psi in harmonic oscillator
My question is pretty easy (i think). I have a wavefcn PSI defined at t=0. The PSI is a mix of several eigenstates. Let's say PHI(x,0)=C1phi1 + C2 phi3. Now C1 and C2 are given to me, so I am wondering is this wavefcn. already normalized, or do i have to normalize it despite definite C1 and C2...- 3uc1id

Expectation value of P^2 for particle in 2d box
[SOLVED] expectation value of P^2 for particle in 2d box I am having difficulty in finding the right way to find this value. my book only give the 1d momentum operator as: ih(bar)*d/dx(partials). i see its much like finding the normalization constant. which i have done using a double integral...- 3uc1id

Calculating Scattering Cross Sections
ok i finally finished this problem. you have to find d(omega), not by integrating the sin stuff u have above. use d(omega) = INTEGRAL of dA/r^2 so you pull out the r^s terms using 10^2 cm^2, and use 1 cm for the area A. youll get 1/100.second thing is you have to correct your n value. i...- 3uc1id

Calculating Scattering Cross Sections
i am doing that exact integral now. i just posted it in cal.analysis. i am trying to use the substitution u=cos(theta/2) but it hasnt produced anything of value yet.- 3uc1id

Undergrad Integral of Sin(theta)/Sin(theta/2)
The title says it all. I am trying to integrate that but I am not sure what substitution to use. i tried u=cos(theta/2) but something is not coming out right. does anyone have any suggestions? they would be well appriciated. thanks
