    Skydiving: Falling 1.2 km at 9.8 m/s^2

The template was terrible. It was much easier to just write my question. You're not allowed to give answers on this forum? Is that a joke? If I've been working hard on a problem, and all of the help isn't helping, it would help much more to give me the answer so I would have something to work...

A kid jumps a meter into the air. How long before he lands?

A kid jumps a meter into the air. How long before he lands? The answer to this question is .95 seconds. I first calculated the time it took for the kid to fall downward. Which was about .45 seconds. But I used the acceleration of 9.8 m/s^2 since he was falling downward. My teachers answer...

    Skydiving: Falling 1.2 km at 9.8 m/s^2

Thanks OThePestO. But really, this is a Physics forum. How is it that nobody knows the answer? This is a basic physics question, it doesn't involve extremely complicated calculation yet.

I meant 1/2. That's what the title says. I made a mistake in the description.

    Skydiving: Falling 1.2 km at 9.8 m/s^2

So velocity is distance / time. I have the distance, but don't have the time. How am I supposed to solve for velocity then?

A kid falls off the top bunk of a bed, how long till he wakes up?

Well I know the distance = 2 m. The acceleration is 9.8 m/s^2. So we have to find when he hits the ground. I'm not sure how to do this. That's why I posted it. Thank you.

Robert leaps a meter into the air, how long before he lands?

I don't have an attempt. I'm not even sure what formula to use, or how to solve this equation. I do know that acceleration is 9.8 m/s^2. But I'm not sure how to solve this. Thank you.

Basic Physics question, find average acceleration and velocity?

My attempt was this. I found the velocity, I think. For velocity I have 3.333 meters/second. I was not sure how to find acceleration, or what formula to use. My teacher gave us this formula: velocity = velocity(sub zero) + at . So should I make a permuatation out of this formula to...

    Skydiving: Falling 1.2 km at 9.8 m/s^2

A person goes skydiving. The plane is one kilometer up and they decide to fall a height of 1.2 kilometeres before opening their chutes. How fast are they going at that point? Isn't it 9.8 m/s^2 because gravity has to be dragging them down at that rate? Thank you!

A kid falls off the top bunk of a bed, how long till he wakes up?

2 kids have a sleepover, one kid falls out of the top bunk. The bunk is 2 meters high. How long till wakes up? I was told "This is fancy way of asking how long it will take an object dropped from two meters with zero initial velocity will take to reach the floor." Thank you.

Robert leaps a meter into the air, how long before he lands?

Robert is jamming out on the air guitar and leaps a meter into the air on a hot riff. How long does it take before he lands? Thank you.

Basic Physics question, find average acceleration and velocity?

Branden runs for a ball from a dead stop. It takes him 3 sec to reach it after traveling 10 meters. What was his average acceleration? What velocity did he achieve when he caught the ball? Thank you!
