Advance Calculating Internal Concentrations of Ions
Hi again, So I have managed to figure out the internal concentrations of each external concentration. Do I then take the average? Or do I just choose a set external concentration (e.g. 100mM) for all ions? Also, from here, how can I calculate PK, PNa and PCl? Which will then allow me to...- af86

Calculating number of ion channels in lipid bilayer
So I thought I figured this out - but I haven't! I have some values, as a test, and I can't seem to get it right. Can anybody please help!? I know it uses the equations above, but something is going wrong in the last step when I'm trying to calculate the number of channels and...- af86

Advance Calculating Internal Concentrations of Ions
Denverdoc, Sorry it's taken me so long to reply - unfortunately I do not have MATLAB and don't know how to use it, any other suggestions - I don't mind if its time consuming to calculate it...a nice easy procedure would be great - I'm still really stuck on this. Thanks- af86

Advance Calculating Internal Concentrations of Ions
I can control external concentration of Na, Cl and K. Which then produces/outputs a membrane voltage.- af86

Advance Calculating Internal Concentrations of Ions
Homework Statement Have to determine permeabilities \alpha and \beta (PNa/PK and PCl/PK) as well as internal concentrations of Na+, K+ and Cl- I have calculated different membrane voltages according to the external concentration (when altering one ion, the other two were set to zero)...- af86

Calculating number of ion channels in lipid bilayer
Thanks denverdoc. I figured it out (I think). But yes, leak conductance was taken into account; I think the only way to go is to divide Gm/G1. Cheers- af86

Calculating number of ion channels in lipid bilayer
Yep. Tried that and my answer came out a few order of magnitudes out...double and triple checked all my work and still..could be that the answer given is incorrect. Thanks!- af86

Calculating number of ion channels in lipid bilayer
Homework Statement Calculate number of channels present in a lipid bilayer q = 1.6^-19; D (diffusion constant) = 1.2E-9; C (Concentration); 4.36; k = 1.38E-23; T=298; d = 2.5E-9 Therefore G1 = 1.27E-17 Channel area = 7.07E-18 measured conductance (from injecting Na+...- af86

Cable theory - calculating cable length using graphs
Homework Statement Using a simulation program I must determine cable length (lambda), area specific conductance (Gm) and internal resistivity of a cell. The program allows you to inject a current (in uA) and change the electrode distance from the centre of the cell. The simulator...- af86
