tan^2(x) - 1

tan(x) + 1
= tan(x) tan(x) - 1
------------------ ( im pretty sure tan(x) crosses out at this part)
tan(x) + 1
= tan(x) - 1 / 1
= tan(x) - 1
is this process correct?
