All atomic particles are waves of possibilities, Schrödinger's work is centralized around the wave-functions and wave-like properties of subatomic particles. I suggest looking into the work of Louis de Broglie if you're really interested in things like this. :)

When science is misrepresented in the media, these types of effects are evident. Although I am nearly sure that religion may play a role in this, however its not the sole cause or instigator of this lack of trust within the sciences from the public.

Humans are damaging to the environment, but we will not damage it to the point where it is "destroyed". Before it is comprehensible that we as a race can reach that point, it is more likely that the human race would be extinguished and the Earth's environment as a whole will easily cope.
