Pressure upstream and downstream of a filter
Any idea please ? Assuming the filter is on the discharge side and the only change in the system is that the filter is getting dirty. What happens to downstream pressure in case of 1) There is pressure regulator upstream the filter. 2) There is no pressure regulator, centrifugal pump vs...- Aptx4869

Pressure upstream and downstream of a filter
Sorry I forgot to mention that information. The filter is on the discharge side. Let's take this system as an example. I put marks on the pump and the filter thanks- Aptx4869

Pressure upstream and downstream of a filter
Dears I have one question When a filter gets clogged, the upstream pressure will go up. But what happens to the downstream pressure ? does it go down or stays the same in case of positive displacement pump vs centrifugal pumpThanks- Aptx4869

Undergrad Cavitation in a closed loop pumping system
Thank you for the advice. one comment regarding the air leaks: I believe for a system that is pressurized above atmospheric at all points, will not have air leaks in. -

Undergrad Cavitation in a closed loop pumping system
Dear CWatters how can we decrease the pump speed ? can this be achieved by changing the motor delta connection to Y connection or vice versa ? -

Undergrad Cavitation in a closed loop pumping system
Dear gmax137, The suction pressure gauge is near the eye of the impeller (around 2-3 meters only). The only thing between the pressure gauge and the suction of the pump is the rubber expansion joint. The manual does't provide the NPSH vs flow rate. I have to ask the vendor to provide it. -

Undergrad Cavitation in a closed loop pumping system
What if the suction pressure is 5 Psig and temperature is 100 F. The liquid is demineralized water Do you think cavitation will happen to such a system in that case ? -

Small question regarding a motor-compressor gearbox
So either you couple the motor directly or use a gearbox, power required to drive the compressor will be the same. The only difference will be the torque and speed depending on the gear ratio. Thank you- Aptx4869

Undergrad Cavitation in a closed loop pumping system
Dears Kindly, I want to hear from you regarding this topic. The system is closed cooling system. I believe it is difficult to attribute the sound you hear from centrifugal pump to be a cavitation especially if the discharge pressure is normal. The last time we had a problem with this system... -

Small question regarding a motor-compressor gearbox
Greetings all I have one question here. There is a centrifugal compressor that is driven by an the electric motor. the speed of the compressor is higher than the speed of the electric motor by using a gearbox with speed increaser. suppose that the motor speed is 3600 rpm and the compressor...- Aptx4869

Undergrad Using an IR Thermal Gun to check for steam passing valves
Kindly, elaborate please. Before making comparison, someone must have something in his mind (idea). What I understood is that I open the valve by (lets say 0.5 or 1%) and compare it with fully closed position. Do you mean if the valve is passing then fully closed and 1% opening valve will be...- Aptx4869

Undergrad Using an IR Thermal Gun to check for steam passing valves
Greetings I am asking about the reliability of using a thermal gun to check if there is passing downstream the valve. The fluid is either steam or air. Wouldn’t the pressure and temperature drop sharply downstream the valve if it is closed but passing ? again I am talking about air or steam...- Aptx4869
