Graduate Why is Rb one of the only things that a BEC can be made from?
I was wondering I have heard scientists recently made bose-einstein condensates from mostly alkali metals. My question is why? Why can't copper, gold or something else work?- asen7

Prerequisites of Quantum Mechanics
When I was going over the topic, I found something about QED and QCD which seem interesting. But how is QCD and QED different from quantum mechanics, and what can you do with QED and QCD? If I wanted to focus in more on these two branches, would I need to learn any more levels math other than...- asen7

Mathematica Which Math Program is Best for Differential Equations & Vector Analysis?
Hi, I am new to this forum, so forgive me if this is a really obvious question. I am a high school student interested in doing a project involving differential equations, and vector analysis (basically calc 1 - III, linear algebra, and a bit of differential equations). I will use this program...- asen7

Undergrad What Courses Follow AP Calculus for Aspiring Physics Students at UCLA?
No, I already knew the courses up to Calc 3, but my question is what are the courses after that and the order in which you take them? And when do you take linear algebra in that sequence?- asen7

Prerequisites of Quantum Mechanics
This is more of a self-study for me. So can anyone recommend any good (as in very specific, detailed, clear, and understandable instruction) quantum mechanics textbooks preferably from introductory quantum mechanics textbooks to a few "classes" a bit more advanced than that? Thanks...- asen7

Prerequisites of Quantum Mechanics
So will I need much multivariable calculus? or vectors? And the hamiltonian operators and eigenvalues, and other operators can be found in which level of math textbook? Or will it be found in a quantum mechanics textbook?- asen7

Undergrad What Courses Follow AP Calculus for Aspiring Physics Students at UCLA?
Thank you Crosstalk, it did help a bit, butthere are some other classes that I need to take that you didn't mention. I know a couple of classes but not sure when you take them, and it is to learn quantum mechanics. I know you need to know differential equations, multivariable calculus...- asen7

Prerequisites of Quantum Mechanics
Hi everyone, I am a college freshman, and was interested in this topic. So I was wondering, where does one draw the distinction between the physics and chemistry of quantum mechanics? Or in other words, what topics do quantum chemistry encompass, and what does quantum mechanics/physics...- asen7

Undergrad What Courses Follow AP Calculus for Aspiring Physics Students at UCLA?
Hi everyone, I just have a question, Could someone please outline the steps to differential equations class from AP calculus AB/calculus I? And out of curiosity, could also list some classes beyond differentials (if there are any) that are completed by college students who have skipped...- asen7
