Questions about AEA Physics/STEP Exams for University Applications
Yeah, I am not looking forward to Chemistry A2 really... I'm counting on it being more interesting than AS so at least I might apply myself more during the year. Good choice on the masters :P. And thanks, I wish you every success in your exams aswell. Thanks a lot for your help :)- ATOMatt

Picking the right equation for the question,
I always start by writing out all the quantities you are given in the question, even if it is obvious which equation to use, so that the examiner gets the feeling that you know what you are doing (even if you don't :P). If you really get stuck, look at the units of the quantities given and then...- ATOMatt

Questions about AEA Physics/STEP Exams for University Applications
Again, another annoyance of my school is that we don't do any modules in January (mainly so that those applying for Medicine can be accommodated for because they have to do all their exams in one sitting from what I've heard - which is fair enough) but I'm confident with my AS exams so far, I've...- ATOMatt

Questions about AEA Physics/STEP Exams for University Applications
You sound like a similar (but academically superior) version of me :P I'm taking Maths/Phys/Chem/Economics this year, and Maths/Phys/Chem/FMaths AS as my school doesn't really allow for people to take FMaths as a full A-level yadda yadda... it's a stupid system, I know. Hopefully after AS...- ATOMatt

Questions about AEA Physics/STEP Exams for University Applications
Hi there, I'm halfway through taking my AS levels at the moment, and I'm looking ahead to universities applications. I stumbled across AEA and STEP exams and I am interested in taking them (the past papers look reasonable to me) but I have a couple of questions to you, the wise members of PF...- ATOMatt

What Are the Essential Books for Understanding Modern Physics?
You sound like you're in a similar position to me, except I'm in the UK :) Based on what you've read, I would recommend:The Road to Reality: A Complete Guide to the Laws of the Universe by Roger Penrose What is Life? The Physical Aspect of the Living Cell by Erwin Schrödinger (if you want a...- ATOMatt

Physics Finding Work Experience for Physics: What Are My Options?
:) I've read volume 1 too, I'm tempted to read volume 2 over the summer... But great, that sounds good. With the work experience, I've found placements at the Rutherford-Appleton Lab in Oxfordshire that I'm going to apply for next year (missed out this year by about 3 days). Thanks for the...- ATOMatt

Physics Finding Work Experience for Physics: What Are My Options?
Hi, I'm a Year 12 student in the UK looking to do Physics (Theoretical/Astro) at uni in sept' 2011. A lot of the unis I've looked at so far, predominantly Manchester and Imperial, have mentioned on their websites that work experience can give you the edge, especially as it is so hard to find for...- ATOMatt
