Term Symbol of np3 & np2: What Are They?
For np3, there is a term symbol: 4S I think it is because l are -1,0 and 1 So, L value=-1+0+1=0 However, for np2 , there is not a term symbol: 3S (I assume l are -1 and 1) I know I misunderstand something, but what are they? -

Calculate the wave number corresponding to the most energetic spectral line
Calculate the wave number corresponding to the most energetic spectral line in the Lyman series for the hydrogen atom. Express your answer to six significant figures and include the appropriate units. I use the formula: http://i.imgur.com/YgLVY.jpg Because the question asks the most energetic...- atsum

What is the wavelength of the light?
Calculate the wavelength of the light emitted when an electron in a one-dimensional box of length 5.2nm makes a transition from the n = 7 state to the n = 6 state. Express your answer with the appropriate units. I calculated in this way: E = n^2*h^2/8*m*a^2 E=... -

Undergrad Calculating Thermodynamic Values for Different Processes
The question is to calculate: q, w, ∆U, ∆H, ∆S for each step(A to B, B to C, C to A) I know how to calculate the values on figure 1, but, how to calculate A to B on figure 2? For A to B on figure 1, it is isothermal process, therefore, I can easy to find out the answer, but I don't know...- atsum

How Do Reactor Types and Sizes Vary for Different Chemical Reactions?
PER - chemical reaction Q: A reactor is needed to convert A to R in a liquid reaction. The stoichiomentry is simply A→R and the rate data is given in the table below (P5.21, Levenspiel 1999). For the reactant concentration to drop from CA0 = 1.3 mol/L to CAf =0.3 mol/L, determine, a)... -

Why Can't I Get the Same Answer for the Boltzmann Equation Problem?
Why I can't calculate the same answer as the solution below? I use the value as what the below solution showed. Q: Where Nj is the number of atoms in excited state, No is the number of atoms in the ground state, Pj and Po are constants determined by the number of states having equal energy...
