What is the velocity of a wrecking ball at a 20.0 degree angle?
i don't understand are you saying that its velocity at the lowest point is 5.00m/s ? If so try using conservation of energy.- AVD

How Do You Calculate the Height of a Wedge in a Physics Problem?
If you find the velocity of the block and the wedge, you should be able to apply concervation of energy to determine the height of the wedge. This means one point you have to apply the formula to is when M1 is at rest at the top of the wedge. use mgh = (whatever you decide) to determine the...- AVD

Understanding the Physics: Solving the Bowling Ball Problem in Lecture Halls
neglecting air resistance, Kinetic energy would be conserved & the ball would not go any further than its starting point (this is common sense) However, if there is a push at the beginning, there is an initial kinetic energy, meaning on its return swing, the ball will go further than the...- AVD

Conservation of Energy - Swing Problem
ok thanks - well here is the rest of what i tried: After child leaves the swing 1/2mv^2=mgh 1/2(m)(v^2) = (m)(9.8)(L-Lsin45) v^2 = 4.9(L-Lsin45) v = 2.4 * (square root of L) Before the child leaves the swing I already established that v = 3.2 * (square root of L) Am I on...- AVD

Conservation of Energy - Swing Problem
i actually tried this but didn't bother to mention it because I kept hitting a dead end. For both velocities, my answer has the term L. Is there any way for this to cancel out? Also is my math right for the velocity of the swing and the child together? I got v = \/(9.8L) <-- p.s. that's my best...- AVD

Conservation of Energy - Swing Problem
Conservation of Energy - "Swing Problem" Hi everyone I'm having some trouble solving this problem because I'm not sure what method to use. It seems like it could involve Centripetal acceleration, conservation of energy, and/or conservation of momentum. Problem A swing seat of mass M is...- AVD
