Scientists reaching The End of Insight
Even if we could start mass producing quantum computer tomorrow it'd still be awhile we could develop AI sophisticated enough to be true problem solvers. Perhaps we've reached the end of non-computer assisted insight?- blip

I need a mother's help fruit flies are overtaking my room
If you really want to get rid of them. If you've eliminated any food or trashcan waste then they are probably coming from your houseplants. What you need is a spray bottle. Fill it with water and a little bit of liquid dish soap. Maybe a tablespoon or something. Then just spray the base of your...- blip

Schools What is the purpose of a college education?
I think too many people go to university without knowing what they want. I got my BS in Computer Science and later became a math teacher. Now that I'm a bit older I have had a number of different interests and sort of bounced between them. It helps when getting a job, but it's not for everyone...- blip

Undergrad This is probably going to sound retarded, but
Is there a limit to how high you can heat something? If not (or if only limited by the amount matter - energy in the universe), then why is there are limit on cooling? In our daily frames of reference the rest of the universe is moving (planets orbiting, galaxies spinning etc...)... -

I didn't say that. Also, relax, you know more than me, I'm willing to admit that without a formal challenge.- blip

Graduate How do particles become entangled?
What if they each perform a measurement simultaneously, say one vertical and the other horizontal? Afterwords they send their photon through a wave plate of the type corresponding to the measurement they each made. Would they pass through their respective plates?- blip

Graduate Infinite Energy Through Extradimensions?
Define communicate. As people like Deustch have speculated when a quantum computer is running calculations it is actually doing it in these multiverses (others say Hilbert space). On top of that it's been said that if you were able to build a quantum computer with an appropriate AI you could...- blip

Graduate How do particles become entangled?
My brain is still trying to wrap itself around exactly what happens during entranglement but let me ask two questions and see if someone (like Marlon or otherwise) can help me. Question 1 Let´s assume Bob and Alice are holding each of the respective entangled photons and Bob goes...- blip

Graduate Infinite Energy Through Extradimensions?
You're right, I've misphrased what I was saying. Replace 'dimensions' with universes and that is what I was saying. M-Theory is the combining of the different string theories (there are 5 and M-theory is the one that is connecting them). The multiverse is different, though I'm not...- blip

Undergrad Optimizing Integer Comparison without If Statements
An 'if' statement doesn't take as much computationally (and works with all number), so I'd never use that method if I were you.- blip

Graduate Infinite Energy Through Extradimensions?
If the idea of the multiverse is correct then supposedly there are infinite dimensions (or is it?), though each has a finite amount of energy, supposedly.- blip
