High School Can Humans Generate Enough Heat to Power the World?
It means we are generating 800% as much energy as the whole of France consumes in a day. Tap our enegies for only a day and France will be sorted for the next eight days. :)- boit

How does an anal fissure cause the anal sphincter to spasm?
It means that if I suffer brain death, my anal sphincter will still suffer spasm whenever I have bowel motions or when a doctor does a digital rectal exam on me. I won't feel the pain though cause I'll be brain dead remember? :)- boit

How does an anal fissure cause the anal sphincter to spasm?
We think all actions are results from signals send from the brain. That's not always the case. Other originate from the spinal cord. A reflex is purely mediated through the spinal cord.- boit

Graduate Sound & Light Wave Speed & Transfer: Explained
I now see it is energy and frequency and not wavelength and frequency. That statement is correct after all. -

Graduate Sound & Light Wave Speed & Transfer: Explained
Could someone please confirm that statement? I thought the wave length increases when sound waves enters a denser medium. -

Medical Is AIDS really a death sentence?
No, it isn't a death sentence. I work in a place where prevalance was 50% (simply saying, if I don't have it, the other guy has). It was one of the highest prevalance rate in the whole world. With Antiretrovirals and food, this guys life expectancy is at per with the rest of the population. In...- boit

High School [Basic question] What is the 'physical' explanation of a division by a fraction?
One Kenyan shilling is a hundreth of a Euro. 1KSh1= 1/100 Euro So you give me 1 euro, how many shillings are that? 1/(1/100) or 1/(.01). Thats KSh100. So division by a fraction is just looking at matters from the other guy's point of view :)- boit

Undergrad Avoiding division absurdities.
We wouldn't be in this quagmire if the Indians or Arabs didn't invent the decimal fraction. I guess we have to live with it.- boit

Undergrad Avoiding division absurdities.
How do people end with .9r? Apart from trying to derive square root of numbers using Newton's method, the biggest culprit is how we employ the authorised order of operation in mathematics i.e. BODMAS, PENDMAS e.t.c. Specificaly where we place the quantities. I saw an equation being used to...- boit

Graduate [Numerical analysis] Stability and condition of Newton's method
I like Newton's method. It prevents the absurdity of having a square root of number being equal in magnitude to the square without breaking a sweat. That way, I'm comfortable in having this neat equations sqrt. 1=0.9r and conversely sqrt. 0.9r=1 (I noticed that square roots of fractions...- boit
