B Is the Speed of Light Dependent on the Size of the Universe?

My refrigerator has achieved this while not violating any known laws. Eating it however, could violate the Law of General Gastronomic Nirvana. Being more of a theorist than pragmatist, I have never endeavored to ascertain the result of such ingestion. Call it a hunch.

B Meaning of the word 'instantaneous'

[Moderator's note: Moved from another forum and slightly edited.] While teaching myself Calculus, I ran into a concept that is both simple and perplexing (to me, anyway). While I understand slope (m) as being X2-X1/Y2-Y1. Simple enough. But then there is talk of instantaneous slope. As if the...

How to unscrew a nut from a generator

I have to see the assembly, but why are you not able to hold the sheave still? Can you post an image? You may find good advice at www.practicalmachinist.com. GL.

B Universe Expansion: Is Earth Spinning Away From Sun?

Just an idle question: Does the universe expand at the same rate everywhere? We know that spacetime is not the same everywhere, so with that I began to wonder about the possible variables of expansion.

B What Determines the Speed of Light Limit?

Barring the arbitrary aspects of the length of a mile or meter, isn't the real question related to the propagation delay between the magnetic field and the electric field components of the EM wave? The greater the delay, the faster the wave. Am I way off track here?

Mixing two different liquids at different temperatures

Off topic, but, I must say, your Dr. Strangelove is a spectacular choice of avatar. I doff my cap to you sir!

Does Horsepower or Torque Determine a Vehicle's Acceleration?

Hp is Hp. However, the same Hp with less lb.ft. implies greater rpm to make up for the lower torque output. Theoretically, it is torque that translates rotary force to linear force. By that, I would say that the lower torque machine must "rev up", which takes more time as well as greater gearing...

Fusion Power Economic Impact: An Overview

What I see is little to no change from the consumer's point of view. If Fusion were indeed made exceptionally cheap, massive build out effort to ensue, increased efforts to break distribution bottlenecks. All made possible by a wider profit margin. The price for delivered power will remain at...

    Gravity waves and gravitational radiation

I'm no physicist, but I have a theory of my own: The EM wave does radiate as indicated (at c in a vacuum). Gravity, on the other hand, may not radiate as the mass particle moves, but exists everywhere, however slight. As such, only its magnitude adjusts with position. I'm told Cassini proves...

Electromagnetic wave... How is it getting transmitted?

As a follow up question, can an EM wave be considered a form of perpetual energy? I 'know' instinctively that this cannot be true, but I don't know why.

Calculating latitude and longitude at any time

Calculating latitude by the solar angle/time of day must take into account the date or it will not be accurate. GPS does provide great accuracy, but to rely on technology (and battery life for that matter) without self reliance as a back up plan is foolish, at least on blue water (IMNSHO).

Can a Modified Helicopter Double as an Airboat?

Looks like an airboat to me. I guess all I can add is "if the drawing board shows no significant flaws, time to move to the scale model design phase." Good luck. Remember, if knowledge is gained, there are no 'failed' experiments.

Can a Modified Helicopter Double as an Airboat?

You're very welcome. BTW, while not new nor a helicopter, for near surface travel you may want to investigate the Russian Ekranoplan. This is a ground effect vehicle that has been scaled down to something like 4m wingspan with small gas engine. While not new, you may find it educational and...

Can a Modified Helicopter Double as an Airboat?

Couldn't give a qualitative comment based on the drawing/description provided. However, you may wish to research the development of the modern helicopter design. I kind of remember something about a grave, inherent instability issue until the rotors were allowed to pivot in relation to the...
