Undergrad Question about linear regression and sample sizes
Consider this situation. There is an exam designed in such a way that it appears that the pass/failure rate of the exam has a linear relationship to the age of the exam taker. The older the test taker, the higher the pass rate. I'm not interested in the exact scores of the exam, only pass or...- byee614

Looking for software recommendations
I have a database in Excel of MLB games for the past 10 years. It's around 22,000 games. I am looking for a program that I can use to manipulate this data, filter/sort based on certain criteria, write formulas, plot graphs, calculate regression lines, etc. I want to be able to input a few pieces...- byee614

Undergrad Is the concept of relativity portrayed accurately in Ender's Game?
Ok, I don't understand 90% of the things you just said so I'll just have to assume you're right.- byee614

Undergrad Is the concept of relativity portrayed accurately in Ender's Game?
But he traveled away from Earth. And then returned to Earth. From Mazer's frame of reference, you could say the Earth departed away from him and then returned to him. So how would you determine who aged more?- byee614

Undergrad Is the concept of relativity portrayed accurately in Ender's Game?
Pretty basic relativity questions. Have any of you read Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card? Great book by the way. But I'm questioning if the issues with relativity in the book are accurate. In the book, a military legend, Mazer Rackham, defeated an army of alien bugs 80 years ago. Realizing...- byee614

High School Is a car moving up a hill at a constant velocity accelerating?
Ok, I showed my friend this thread and he says that this statement about "general relativity" is what he's trying to argue. Which I think is BS because there was no mention of relativity or frame of reference when we first started arguing about it. It was a problem given on a Physics 101... -

High School Is a car moving up a hill at a constant velocity accelerating?
I think the acceleration is zero. The velocity is constant. Acceleration by definition is the rate of change of velocity with respect to time. If the velocity is not changing, the acceleration is zero. My friend argues that the car must be accelerating to counteract the force of gravity... -

High School Is a car moving up a hill at a constant velocity accelerating?
This is not a homework problem, I just got into an argument with my friend about a very basic physics problem that I hope you can help us settle. A car is moving up a hill at a constant velocity. Is the car accelerating? I know it's simple, but I argued for an hour about this.
