    Feynman Lectures exercises problem 1.9

I'm finding it very difficult haha. But at the same time I'm heavily enjoying the challenge. I intend on going through all of the Feynman problems, but in all honesty I'm not the best student. I plan on working more on the problems in a few days with a fresh mind and some helpful hints from your...

    Feynman Lectures exercises problem 1.9

Homework Statement The density of air is given as .001g/cm^-3 and the density of liquid air 1g/cm^-3 A.) Estimate the number of air molecules per cm^3 B.) Estimate the Mass of a single molecule. C.) Estimate the average distance L an air molecule should travel between collisions at normal...

Feynman exercise - container with steel balls

I am working on this problem to. Its from the feynman lectures problem set book. The problem statement is literally find an equation for giving the number of steel balls when you only know the relationship to the diameter of the balls to the dimensions of the box i.e much greater. My solution...

Does the school you attend really matter? (Undergrad)

Hello, I don't mean that question to sound rude or judging, but financially I can't really leave my state (Oregon) until graduate school. I was always told that in science where you go matters, but no one in my family except my uncle have gone to college. Thanks in advance for the advise.

What do I like to do? Exploring interests beyond the classroom

If you were to be forced to stay away from any classroom(just the academic scientific ones) for 3 months or more and not allowed to read textbooks, what would you do instead during that time? I'd say that's my problem, I simple don't know I have never really done anything but eat, sleep, and...

What do I like to do? Exploring interests beyond the classroom

I guess the existential crisis got to me a little earlier than I expected. I picked up a couple books from the library, mostly non fiction studies on the value of free speech and Internet neutrality. Maybe that's something I enjoy, reading and reasoning.

What do I like to do? Exploring interests beyond the classroom

Well I'm in the rogue valley Orego, which is endless forests and mountains. My top choices in universities are in California though. I might start hiking that sounds fun.

What do I like to do? Exploring interests beyond the classroom

I guess I'm finding it difficult to test myself. I just picked up four books from my local library to read. I wonder how many other people have similar existential struggles.

What do I like to do? Exploring interests beyond the classroom

I have always been good inside a classroom, but as I'm getting older a question keeps popping up. What do I like to do? I have been so stuck in class that I don't even know what I want to do with my free time. As I look at applications to four year universities, many ask about you as a person...

    Two dimensional Elastic Collision

Ahhhh I see it now haha, by substituting V2x for cos♤*V2 and V2y for sin♤*V2 I can find the magnitudes without knowing the theta then I can plug an chug the systems of equations. Thanks!

    Two dimensional Elastic Collision

Homework Statement [/B] The problem statement is: A helium atom traveling at a speed of 240 m/s hits an oxygen atom at rest. If the helium atom rebounds elastically, from the oxygen atom at an angle of 90° with respect to the original direction of motion, what are the final velocities of both...

The relationship between limits and motion? (Limits in calc)

The actually lesson was only about analyzing units, but I decided to think more (even though I am completely wrong ) about the significance of magnitude. In essence I was just thinking out loud and trying to make connections that might not be there. My full thought was probably worded...

The relationship between limits and motion? (Limits in calc)

The first day of physics 211 (calculus based) at my school, our teacher started us out with dimensional analysis and it's importance. We started with the plank length which is in meters and while he didn't specify why, we used the plank constant ,gravitational constant, and the speed of light to...

Concurrent Calculus and Physics: A Student's First Semester Experience

Hi, starting on the 26th my first physics class in college starts. I'm excited, but also tense as I am taking calculus and physics (calculus based) together concurrently. Yes this is an option at my school. I'm excited to start learning calculus and eventually physics. Good day.
