Odd... I'm sure it can be explained, though. I mean, SETI (and earlier projects like it) has been going for something like 50 (?) years, and all of the odd signals can be explained by quasars, human interaction, and other natural devices. But if it is some aliens, it really makes you wonder...

Exactly. The hijackers would just wait until you are over the target city, and then attempt to hijack the plane. The parachute foils their attempt, but the plane still crashes into a populated city, killing many.
