Refresh my calculus for general solution of Aexp(-ikx)
alright, let me rephrase my question more clearly this time. How does Ae-ikx transform into Asin(kx)+ Bcos(kx)?- Chaste

Refresh my calculus for general solution of Aexp(-ikx)
Homework Statement If \psi(x) = Ae-ikx then the general solution \psi(x) = Asin(kx) + Bsin(kx) May I know if this is ODE? or? sorry, I need a refresher on my calculus. Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution Homework Statement Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution- Chaste

Graduate Do up and down quarks obey flavour quantum conservation?
I was searching for a "upness" over the internet and found nothing but what hints of up and down quarks having quantum number conservation is this isospin thing, which I haven't learnt. May I ask if there is an "upness" or "downness"? i.e number of up quarks - number of antiup quarks for...- Chaste

I need some ideas for a sci-fi essay related to the accident of a LHC.
Thanks guys for your comment. I do agree that black holes creation via LHC can be quite cliche. I need ideas because I'm a laymen to all the technical details that you all have stated and I don't even know where to start asking. Anyway, it's just for interest sake that I'm partaking in this...- Chaste

I need some ideas for a sci-fi essay related to the accident of a LHC.
Thanks! I will look into this now. Anyway, I'm planning to include in parenthesis or footnotes the feasbility of the Sci-fi. It's Sci fi after all. An interesting story prevails over facts. :)- Chaste

I need some ideas for a sci-fi essay related to the accident of a LHC.
Hi all, I'm writing a sci-fi story for a competition, are there any more realistic ideas of what accident can LHC cause that has massive impact on the whole earth? currently, my idea is the formation of massive black holes from quantum ones which led to the Earth being swallowed. How...- Chaste

Graduate The differences in zero-point energy between isotopes
thanks. so what about it's maximum vibrational quantum number and it's equilibrium vibrational energy? are they the same? but thinking about ur statement, there's no mass to consider when relating to vmax and veq. so there shd be no change as well?- Chaste

Graduate The differences in zero-point energy between isotopes
Hi all, May I know which would have a higher vibrational energy at ground state, zero point energy, maximum vibrational quantum number, between the these 2 isotopes: H2 and D2 and why?- Chaste
