Why should a distilling flask not be more than half filled?
Hey,i have some lab report questions that i need to be checked. I've submitted my report & the prof corrected it but the hard copy with the corrections remained with my partner. Now, my exam is on Monday n I am left with the uncorrected soft copy. 1. Why dosent all the liquid vaporize at once...- ChemDoodle

How Do You Calculate Keq from a 66.6% Yield in Esterification?
33.4% of the reactants have not reacted. So if we assume V=100ml that means 33.4ml have not reacted and 66.6 ml is V for the product. Is this correct? Incase it is, how do i get n? I only need n for one species because its equimolar & stoich is 1:1.- ChemDoodle

How Do You Calculate Keq from a 66.6% Yield in Esterification?
In the preparation of isoamyl acetate, a student reported a % yield of 66.6%.Assuming that he used equimolar amounts of the starting materials, what is the equilibirium constant of the esterification process? I need conc of products & conc of reactants to get Keq but how do i get that? They...- ChemDoodle

Preparation of alkenes from alcohols
Q. Draw the structure for all possible alkenes & the alcohols from which they can be prepared. CH3-CH=CH-CH2-CH3 <---- CH3-CHOH-CH2-CH2-CH3 CH2=CH-CH2-CH2-CH3 <---- CH2OH-CH2-CH2-CH2-CH3 Both in the presence of H+ & heat. I also drew Cyclopentanol from which we can prepare...- ChemDoodle

What is the Correct Calculation for Percentage Yield of Alkene from Alcohol?
We were preparing Alkene from Alcohol & were asked to calculate percentage yield. We used 13.5 ml Cyclohexanol with 13.5 ml water & 7ml Sulfuric acid. To calculate % yield,i need theoretical mass.. So i was calculating no.of moles of cyclohexanol & cyclohexene (the product) to get the...- ChemDoodle

Solving Alkene Reactions Problems for Chem Exam
Hey I'm studying for my chem exam & I am having difficulty solving some problems. 1. 1,3cyclohexadiene + Br2= ? Here, should i treat it like a conjugated diene? Meaning that the Br molecules will have 1,2 and 1,4 additions on the diene and 2 products will be there? 2. 1,4cyclohexadiene +...- ChemDoodle

Which Alkenes Can Exhibit Cis/Trans Isomerism?
Ok,so i checked each and every one again & the one that i missed is 2-pentene.Is there any other one i missed? Cyclodecene is a cycle of 10 C & with one double bond. But i just couldn't draw the cis/trans representation..I was thinking maybe the trans rep. should be two cycles instead of the one...- ChemDoodle

Which Alkenes Can Exhibit Cis/Trans Isomerism?
On the first C there is H & CH3 & on the second C there is H & CH2CH2CH3. So there is cis/trans isomerism with respect to H.Oh yes! I missed that one.Can u please point out the rest that I've got wrong? & ill draw them out. You'll save me a lot of time.Cuz we also have to draw each isomer.- ChemDoodle
