Bernoulli's Equation and fire hose
I just had an idea. P+1/2PV^2+Pgh=pgh+1/2pv^2+P We can cross out both p's since they're both exposed to atmosphere. The first equation has no potential while the second has no kinetic. 1/2pv^2=pgh v=root(2g(35m)) v=26.2 m/s 0.5=26.2*Pi(r^2) Calculate for r then times by two for maximum...- ChemIsHard

Bernoulli's Equation and fire hose
A fire hose must be able to shoot water to the top of a building 35.0 m tall when aimed straight up. Water enters this hose at a steady rate of 0.500 m3/s and shoots out of a round nozzle. i) What is the maximum diameter this nozzle can have? ii) If the only nozzle available has a diameter...- ChemIsHard

Determining the energy of an object
I'm having some trouble with some relatively basic Simple Harmonic Motion problems. First off, when determining the energy of an object do we need to take into account it's height of above the ground? At t=0 it is at 0.50m(highest) and at t=0.5 it's at 0.10m (it's lowest). The maximum...- ChemIsHard

What Is the Maximum Percent Recovery Using Water for Recrystallization?
One gram of salicylic acid dissolves in 460 mL of water at room temperature and 15 mL of boiling water. What is the maximum percent recovery that can be achieved using water as a recrystallization solvent assuming the recrystallization mixture is not cooled below room temp.? So I assumed we...- ChemIsHard

Max Weight for Helium Balloon: Simple Buoyancy Problem Solution
I still get 7.45g...weird. My balloon circumference is 25 cm. The balloon weighs 0.9g. Pair=1.2, PHelium=0.1785 Therefor my radius is 0.125m and my balloon mass is 0.0009kg. 4/3pi(0.125)^3*1.2=Mass+0.0009kg+4/3pi(0.125)^3*0.1785 Mass=0.007457kg=7.5g... Anyone see where I'm messing up.- ChemIsHard
