How can I easily remember the complex structures of biomolecules?
You can look at the SCOP database or CATH database because they show you how to describe structure. It may be a little more detailed than you need though. Search TOPS protein topology as well. It has to do with splitting the protein in domains, layers, betas, alphas, facing up, down, order of... -

Determination of single biomolecules
I think X-ray crystallography? Or NMR but probably xray. it has to do with determining electron density. and there are a bunch of functions like coulombs law i think and something called the electrostatic constant that can be used that's needed for coulombs law to map isopotential lines.- cimmerian

Molecular Modeling: Does a proline chain fold or tangle up?
It's probably a stupid question but is it possible to attach a long proline chain - 8 or more residues - at the C terminal of a protein and have it connect to another protein and not affect folding? It's for a project and it's not actually necessary but I have to make a protein that binds to an...- cimmerian

Schools 2.89 current GPA from good college?
I'm an undergrad at RPI and I currently have a 2.89 GPA. I'm a senior so I'm currently applying for jobs. Haven't gotten any replies so far. I majored in Bioinformatics. Is it possible for me to get a job in this field? I will only have a 2.99 by the time I graduate and I think by that time, all...- cimmerian

100(1-alpha) Confidence Interval for μ when μ and σ^2 are unknown
Homework Statement X1,...Xn is a random sample from N(μ, σ^2) Homework Equations Estimator of μ maybe? a1 + a2 = a a1 = a2 = a/2 (x-μ)/(σ/√n)~N(0,1) ((x-μ)/σ)^2~Chi square(1) The Attempt at a Solution I tried to replace μ with its estimator xbar but that gives me 0.- cimmerian

Graduate Joint pmf of 2 binomially distributed random variables
I hope I wrote that correctly but I'm trying to find the joint. I heard it was impossible from someone. X = A/R A~BIN(n1, p1) R~BIN(n2, p2) I know I shouldn't be using the Jacobian method for Discrete distributions but I have to do it anyway. Anyone know?- cimmerian
