Undergrad Bohr Model: Explaining Why Electrons Don't Enter Nucleus
I liked the Bohr model as it explained why the electrons aren't sucked into the nucleus. (Balancing of centipetal and centrifugal forces). Am I right in saying that the electrons still orbit the nucleus to avoid electrostatic attraction except we can't make very accurate judgements about the way...- ConceptuallyInept

Why Does Noble Gas in Glass Tubing Emit Colored Light?
This may be more of a chemistry question than a physics one, but why does glass tubing filled with a noble gas emit coloured light when electric current flows through the tube. Being inert I would've thought they would be the least likely substance to exhibit such a property. Cheers- ConceptuallyInept

Flow Rate of Water vs. Orifice Diameter: Get Help
One would assume that when the area of an orifice is doubled then twice as much water will flow through this orifice. Hence we assume a proportional relationship between the two. However use of a garden hose leads us to believe that increasing the area of the orifice decreases the velocity of...- ConceptuallyInept

How Does Orifice Diameter Affect Fluid Flow Rate?
(Thanks to the guy who answered my original thread) For a physics project I'm investigating the effects on the flow rate of fluids. I'm going to find a relationship between orifice diameter and flow rate (keeping things simple I'll assume it's a circular orifice for a cylindrical can). For...- ConceptuallyInept

How Does Liquid Volume Affect Pressure and Flow Rate?
For a physics project I've decided to investigate factors affecting the flow rate of liquids. One of the factors I'm investigating is how an increase in liquid in a container will induce greater pressure and hence increase the flow rate. I need a theoretical link for the data I obtain for this...- ConceptuallyInept
