Understanding Airfoil Wingtip Effects on Lift & Drag
When an air passes over the wingtip of the airfoil, the upwash created at the leading edge 'reduces' the Angle of Attack, thus reducing lift. So why does this affect increase induced drag. The way I understand it, the greater the AoA (more lift), the more induced drag that is generated. Help...- cosmic time

Undergrad Is c the fastest known velocity?
Mmmm.. neither do I... my teacher is weird sometimes, he claims that photons have next to no mass, so it has the ability to exceed C. He said if white light can't pass through your body, and X-rays can, x-ray/gamma rays must be moving faster than white light. Also, something accelerates, its...- cosmic time

Undergrad Is c the fastest known velocity?
I believe what he meant was that the shorter the wave length the faster the speed. It would mean that visible light's velocity would be half way between radiowave's and gamma ray's. My teacher's explanation does sort of makes sense, but I misunderstood a major part, what he meant as speed of...- cosmic time

Undergrad Is time in the universe constant?
I'm thinking of a way to defend my authroity against a peer who has threaten to take me down in a debate (LOL). Im I am thinking, say your moving close at the speed of sound, and then you suddenly stop, time around you is supposed to get slower, and potentially go back in time. How would it...- cosmic time

Graduate What Are the Chances of Different Physical Laws If We Restarted the Big Bang?
it may all depend on the symmetry of the blast, ofcourse if one side outnumbers another, there is a possibillity that anti-matter may out number matter, or in other words nothing can exist but empty space. In another blast, there may only be 3 fundamental forces, having no strong force, so the...- cosmic time

Undergrad Can Sound Actually be Faster Than Light?
this gave me some ideas, what if the sound was traveling through a supermassive black hole? Or even traveling through a black hole containing everything in a universe? Surely the densisty in that would be great enough that sound would approach or match c.- cosmic time

Undergrad Is c the fastest known velocity?
Michio Kaku states the universe is expanding at 10^50 times per second. In other words, this is much faster than light, this does not violate Einstein's theory because empty space is not matter, this space may accelearate but does not contain anything with mass. What I do find confusing is that...- cosmic time

Graduate What Happens to the Universe if Omega Equals Exactly 1?
If Omega was exactly 1... We know if the value of omega (the average mass of all matter int he universe was) was more than 1, the ultimate fate of our universe is the big crunch; also if omga was less than one, there wouldn't be enough gravitational pull to bring all matter back, however will...- cosmic time
