Need advice -- Physics vs. Engineering vs. Computer Science....
Thanks all for the responses. As for why I would pivot from software to electronics, I think both fields are extremely interesting. You can design a software product to provide a service to millions of people. In electronics, you can convert abstract concepts into applied physical mechanisms...- Craig Scott

Need advice -- Physics vs. Engineering vs. Computer Science....
Ok guys here's the deal, I was accepted to UC Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, waitlisted at UCLA for Physics as a transfer A little background: I know a moderate deal of programming, have taken Assembly Language, OOP, Data and Discrete Structures. What I want to accomplish: Create a successful...- Craig Scott

Complete Square + Leibniz question (2 questions)
In my relevant solutions it is velocity/acceleration, the way I put it was just in leibniz notation in terms of s(t)- Craig Scott

Complete Square + Leibniz question (2 questions)
Homework Statement 1. How did they complete the square for these equations in the picture below? What was their thought process? 2. distance/velocity = time , velocity/acceleration = time , In leibniz notation how does this cancel out? When you divide, how does it cancel out to give you a...- Craig Scott

Electric Potential of a Point Charge close to R=0
I agree with your statement a) which is why I believed you must put kq/ |r| because the r represents the magnitude, there isn't a negative r direction which would cause the original kq/r equation to not work in 3d space... I think you are right I am still trying to figure out the relationship...- Craig Scott

Electric Potential of a Point Charge close to R=0
The graph of kq/r in the x-y plane lies in the 1st and 3rd quadrant. By making the equation |kq/r| It restricts the equation to the first and second quadrant. this is the equation 1/r, by making it |1/r| it would restrict the graph to y>0 or voltage > 0 because it is a positive point charge...- Craig Scott

Electric Potential of a Point Charge close to R=0
Good explanation. I most likely didn't completely understand all of it, but I got the main jist of 4a and above... the ball rolling towards the edge of the cliff makes sense but in this case it does not apply correct? Because if a positive q+ charge approaches the stationary +q charge, it is...- Craig Scott

Electric Potential of a Point Charge close to R=0
Homework Statement ≈ What is a 3D representation of voltage using Kq/r assuming a positive point charge and what is the equation in cartesian and cylindrical form2. Relavent equations Kq/r 3. Attempt at solution[/B] I was trying to get a better understanding of Voltage, to really FEEL...- Craig Scott
