Is Intelligent Life in the Universe a Waste of Space?

Yes I would like the scientist beliefs if there are intelligent life in this universe besides ours.. By intelligent I mean, something that can hunt, and make their own shelter. So as smart as a bird or a monkey. Not single cells, ants. Fish yes.. Dogs cats fox those kinds Than also the...

Is Intelligent Life in the Universe a Waste of Space?

From browsing this website I have formed an opinion that people in here don't like when someone brings up information that they heard in a movie.. Well this is more along the lines of a question that arose from watching a movie.. With Sandra Bullock, forgot the name.. Dialogue went something...

Can I Push the Moon Instantly?

But the push would have to react instantly. How can one end of the stick move, while the end doesn't? Has to be faster than light

Can I Push the Moon Instantly?

I feel like it's possible. I push one end, the other end needs to move to make room for the stick pushing right?

Can I Push the Moon Instantly?

Can a push, be faster than light? If I was to hold a stick that stretched out to the moon, and pushed it. Could I push the moon instantly? Seeing as that the stick could defy physics etc and I had enough strength to make an impact on the moon.

    Unseen Light's Puzzling Behaviour

That paper that was published. I don't understand it, my math skills cannot follow that paper yet. Would observing it with your eyes be the same as, using a detector? My problem comes from, when the photons make a wave pattern, how can we know that a human wasn't sitting far away watching that...

    Unseen Light's Puzzling Behaviour

Zapper yes I looked. Like I said in my post. I replied before I looked at the links. I said that because we cannot understand why it can be in two places at once. So why is it so absurd to think it can go through one slit and look like it went through two?

What is the true probability of a monkey typing banana in the correct order?

So the probability is smaller than 1/50^6 that it types the correct order? I feel like 1/50^6 is like resetting after each key. And doesn't take into consideration the small chance they do it in order. Even though the shooting the monkey does make sense.

    Unseen Light's Puzzling Behaviour

Why can't the photon go through one slit? And than act as it went through both? Also, is there a way someone could make a sensor so small that it wouldn't interfere with the photon going through the slit? Thanks for the answers guys, going to look at the links posted.

What is the true probability of a monkey typing banana in the correct order?

Okay so the 1/50 are the odds of spelling banana out correctly in order.. So even with the 1/50 chance, there isn't another variable that comes into play? As far as getting all the 1/50 letters to happen exactly in the precise order?

    Unseen Light's Puzzling Behaviour

Okay so by observed they mean, "a detector" on a slit? So the photon is sensing the slit somehow and than only choses to go through one, instead of both? Also, after you let the interference build up, if you went behind the slits would the interference disappear? When it boils down, is the big...

    Unseen Light's Puzzling Behaviour

Question I cannot seem to understand regarding the light shot through a slit. Changing when observed. How does anyone know what the light does when it's not observed... If they aren't observing it? "Oh the light passes through both when not observed but when we so observe it, it acts like a...

What is the true probability of a monkey typing banana in the correct order?

Feel free to move if this is in the Erin section. I'm no mathematician. Second year of college going to my astrophysics degree. Something I don't understand is this Probability law. The following is copied from Wikipedia "For example, if the chance of rain in Moscow on a particular day in the...

Time Travel at Light Speed: How Can Earth Be in Future?

And so if 20 minutes pass on Earth witch means 17 seconds about in light time.. How can 17 seconds pass when in reality that light has been gone for 20 minutes. I know I would only feel 17 seconds being gone. But technically I would have really been gone 20 minutes not 17 seconds. Does this make...
