B Particle creation and annihilation
I read somewhere that when, say, an electron and positron annihilate, they create two photons which travel in opposite directions in order to conserve linear momentum. Is this true? What about pair production. Do you likewise need two photons to do this? Or, can you do it with one photon...- DiracPool

MATLAB Find Scilab & MATLAB Help Forums | Converting Code & Programming Questions
Yes, this was the case. I posted the question on "MATLAB central" on the Mathworks site. I actually got one response (which didn't help) before they shut down the commentary due to the question "not relating to Mathworks products."...- DiracPool

MATLAB Find Scilab & MATLAB Help Forums | Converting Code & Programming Questions
Hello, I wanted to ask if anyone knows of a decent MATLAB and/or Scilab help forum(s). My programming question is specifically for Scilab, but I can't really find any Scilab forums. Since Scilab is a MATLAB alternative, though, I might be able to get what I'm looking for in a MATLAB forum...- DiracPool

MATLAB Help converting MATLAB to Scilab code
Hi Steve, thanks for the reply and the leads. The translation/converter tool in Scilab did not seem to work, it didn't even produce a file that could even be run. What really helped was your mention of the free online MATLAB. That's pretty cool. At 20 hours a month, that might be all I need...- DiracPool

How do you like your coffee?
Wow, That's funny because you're absolutely correct. Here's a true story. I forget the exact year, but it was circa 1993. Both my mom and I were living in Honolulu, Hi. and we would meet up at various restaurants occasionally for dinner or lunch. We heard about this one popular Vietnamese...- DiracPool

Hi WWGD, Not sure what Cognitive Science appointment you're talking about, I've had a lot of them in the last few years. But thanks for asking. And Yes, it absolutely helps to get coffeed up basically before ANY appointment in my experience. I forgot to add the priority of coffee...- DiracPool

How do you like your coffee?
The best coffee experience is a "pour over" from Olympia coffee company. Get the Kalita 195 filters and choose your own brand. https://www.olympiacoffee.com/collections/coffee I used to have 3 bags shipped in bi-monthly when I moved from Washington State to UMASS, Amherst in 2016 to do AI...- DiracPool

I What Are the Origins of the Universe?
No, the big bang did not occur in an already existing universe. As far as we know there was nothing before the big bang. There were no preconditions as nothing existed. The big bang is understood as commencing the origin of the universe. So, no confusion there as far as the vastly agreed... -
B Time Dilation Question: Two Men's Watches Differ after Space Travel
The short answer is Yes. If the two dudes are hanging out having a beer after one travels around the solar system and the other one was tanking beers for two weeks at the space port then, Yes, they are existing at that moment at/in the same time because they are currently in the same inertial...- DiracPool

Quarantine takes toll on alcoholics
Fortunately for me, I'm on the ketogenic diet, I haven't seen a bag of flour in years. I have no idea why in a viral pandemic people would make a run on bleached flour. haha.- DiracPool

News Who was Freeman Dyson and what were his contributions to science?
I currently put myself to sleep with web of stories or whatever with Freeman Dyson, Hanse Bethe, and, what's his name? Oh yeah, the quark guy, that prima donna Murray Gell-Man. I listened to 24 hours of his dribble on the web of stories (WOS) site. It was rewarding, though. Better to do it...- DiracPool

Quarantine takes toll on alcoholics
You are such an amatuer, my friend Bill. I, having been a party casualty of the 80's have been through all of these withdrawals hundreds of times.
