I'm sorry for replying so late... the major problems involved are that the tank is pretty small... and i the content of the tank is not always water so i couldn't consider the option of using that water as a dielectric...(because the contents are different... and I'm only concerned with the...- dk99

how to measure water level in a tank?? How to measure water level in tank in the cheapest way? The first thing that came to my mind is pressure sensor... but it's ruled out because it's expensive. Can somebody suggest a cheaper mechanism? And it is preferred to have a low power mechanism...- dk99

How Do Energy Meters Use Power Lines for Communication?
It is using Pocket PC.. isn't it? I think it's pretty expensive. I don't think it's really implementable in India. My friend is proposing Regular wireless sensor network. How does it sound?- dk99

Thanks carl.. but i don't know anything about those currents... I mean their phase relationships. Can we use something like 2 current transducers and a comparator?? Do such hardware exist?- dk99
