Simple Harmonic Motion with Cylinder Attached to Spring
Homework Statement Okay, so we've got a solid cylinder attached to a horizontal massless spring that rolls without slipping along a horizontal surface. The system is released from rest with the spring stretched past the equilibrium point. (The first two parts of this problem ask for...- DoTell

Conservation of Angular Momentum Problem with Rod and Bullet
Ah yes, that's a problem! I must use the radius for the bullet part of the total inertia. So the rotational inertia should be (1/12)M_R*L^2+M_B*(L/2)^2 But why is it still the wrong answer? If that's the only error, I must be making a computation mistake. And about the tag error, I don't know...- DoTell

Can someone with this notation? vectors
The 'i's, 'j's, and 'k's with the little hats on top of them (my teacher calls them "i-hat" and "j-hat" and "k-hat") represent components. i=x component, j=y component, k=z component. So vector 'A' has an x component of positive 6 and a y component of positive 2. Now, all vectors have a...- DoTell

Conservation of Angular Momentum Problem with Rod and Bullet
Alright, this is my first experiment with this forum. Hopefully, I do this right! Homework Statement I'm going to give the problem in terms of variables, not the numbers I'm given, so that people can't give me a direct answer. A uniform thin rod of length (L)m and mass (M_R)kg can rotate...- DoTell
