Relation between physiology and accent (linguistics)?
Do you believe genetics can cause one to have a particular accent in a given language? Or are accents only related to post-birth personal development? Are there ethnicities having anatomically distinct voice boxes, that have more difficulty in emulating specific accents? I tend to...- Dr Lots-o'watts

Engineers the Oompah Loompahs of Science ?
Scientists tend to dig out information, whether it responds to an immediate problem or not. They'll mostly be working on long-term, higher risk activity, with applications that are not necessarily obvious. It's more exploratory. Engineers work at solving an immediate problem. Less risky, and...- Dr Lots-o'watts

The Rewards of Discovery: Do Scientists Deserve More?
Case: two chemists from 3M discovered a low tack adhesive, and made it into a product we now know as post-its. Now imagine how many post-its are sold daily around the world. Those two scientists never got any special treatment besides their scientist salary. Does this bother you at all...- Dr Lots-o'watts

Why do law schools have an admission quota?
Or 9 extra schools if you prefer. Then we can see which graduated the slowest students.- Dr Lots-o'watts

Why do law schools have an admission quota?
It seems to me like every citizen should be able to understand and interpret law, so I don't get why they limit the number of students in law schools. Surely the school administrators would be able to manage an increase in admissions. In other fields, the numbers are set naturally i.e. people...- Dr Lots-o'watts

High School Does Light Change Color When Refracted in Glass?
It's not an opinion! Colour is determined by whichever wavelengths were in the vitreous humor! It's an extra medium after air and glass and what not. No ambiguity!- Dr Lots-o'watts

Physics movies (mainstream movies with physics in them)
I like this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einstein_and_Eddington Not Hollywood, but it did go through some smaller theaters.- Dr Lots-o'watts

How to find the right material to change the wavelength of light?
In the case of nanosecond (or less) pulses of laser, one can find crystals that create harmonics of the incident beam. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonlinear_optics And some pulsed laser systems have a wavelength that can be tuned within a certain range (again using nonlinear phenomena), but...- Dr Lots-o'watts

Is Nepotism Justified in the Corporate World?
Something like that happened with people lately, but it's the first husband that made the act. He was somehow found not criminally responsible because he wasn't in a normal state of mind (also a cardiologist with surely good lawyers). My next research project: finding someone with some power...- Dr Lots-o'watts

Microwave/laser heating on small atmospere area
You think it would affect the weather any more than irreversibly bringing up innumerable tons of fossil fuel gases? You might find a cheap KFC-style joint nearby the receiving end though.- Dr Lots-o'watts
