Getting into Plasma Physics and Fusion

Why not use references from your textbook to dig deeper? By the time you graduate you should be able to do this on your own.

High School Brightness of different layers of the Sun

Let me clarify. Hydrogen fusion generates gamma rays which are then down-converted in energy through pair production, electron Compton scattering and the photoelectric effect. It is in this sense that all the energy that originates in the core is redistributed throughout the rest of the sun via...

High School Brightness of different layers of the Sun

Discounting exotic (higher order) processes, all photons associated with the sun originated in the core.

Admissions Help evaluating my physics grad application scores & GPA

Your PGRE, nonverbal GRE and low physics GPA demand some sort of explanation, without which you will little chance of admission at any competitive institution. Looking at your profile, it's not clear that a Physics PhD is the right track for you, disclosure or not. The fact that you did...

Undergrad Galaxy Rotation Curves: Newton's Shell Theorem Impact

The rotation curve in the inner part of the galaxy is dictated solely by visible, baryonic matter that obeys Kepler's and Newton's law

Undergrad Where is a planet's gravity maximum?

One way to get the answer would be to model the Earth's density versus depth analytically and use an equivalent form of Gauss' law.

Undergrad Do stars have any lower mass limit?

Yes, the lower limit was never meant to be set in stone (nor is the upper limit).

Undergrad Do stars have any lower mass limit?

My mistake. It's thought to be around 80 times the mass of Jupiter. Just like the upper limit, I imagine that the lower limit has considerable wiggle room. I have edited my post to correct the number. Thanks
