Bsc Applied Physics, Msc Financial Maths? Worth it?
So I've been reading that physicists are good candidates for jobs in the financial sector, and there was even huge demand for them on Wall St. a few years ago. After obtaining a BSc in Applied Physics, would it help securing a job in the financial sector by having an MSc in Financial...- f '(x)

Undergrad How does the Random number generator works?
Related question: Is there such thing as a "random" number generator? I remember reading somewhere that computers can't generate random numbers and that the sequence would have been programmed by someone (something along those lines). For example on a scientific calculator, is it truly... -

Undergrad Plane on conveyer belt question (with video)
My initial thought was that the plane wouldn't be able to take off. If the conveyor is moving in the opposite direction as the plane, at the same speed, then the plane wouldn't move relative to the ground (as if you're running on a treadmill, you're not actually changing position relative to the... -

Graduate How Does IBM Manipulate Atoms and What Are the Implications for Data Storage?
I have a number of questions about the above video: What are they using to move the atoms? What are the wave-like lines around the shape/atoms? Why can't we see the atoms of the material that the video was filmed on (i.e. the background)? Side question - What do atoms have to do with data...- f '(x)

Undergrad Any real life demonstrations of radioactive decay?
No I am not. Thanks for the other part of your answer. EDIT: "If we can SEE radioactivity taking place with just putting it in front of a video camera, we won't need a Geiger counter or other sophisticated detection devices!" I think you might have misinterpreted this part of my post. What...- f '(x)

Undergrad Any real life demonstrations of radioactive decay?
I'm skeptical about a some things in physics as some things are hard to understand, or I need to see proof to believe it. I find that for physics, it helps a lot to see a real life demonstration (video) of what's being explained. I understand the whole radioactive decay thing, but I have not...- f '(x)
