Hello physics forum,
I'm running an experiment where characteristic x-ray are produced from an Iron sample, and I was just wondering if these x-rays are emitted in any random direction, or is there a "favored" direction they can be emitted in? Thank you in advance.

hint: the magitude of v is already given, you have to calculate the magnitude of B then find theta by:
F = q(v X B) = q|v||B|sin(theta)
hope this helps

hint for number one
it's asking how far the bullet dropped, so find its y displacement, not x...
hint for number two
if the ball's velocity continued to increase it wouldn't come back down...also your velocity should look like V = Vosin@ - 1/2gt^2
hope this helps
I was wondering the same thing...I go to school in Canada, but Michigan is just across the border here and I wanted to apply...I've contacted some people at the schools I'm considering, no response yet though...
my grades were mostly low B's first year, second year I finished with mostly high B's and low A's (but i got a C+ in complex variables:frown:)...anyway, all I really did was structure how I go about reading/studying for a class...some classes (eg. EM theory) I would have to do a lot more reading...
Med school or Medical physics??
Hey all, I have an interest in neuroscience, and I was wondering if it would be better to go to med school, or go to graduate school for medical physics. I was also wondering which areas of physics are more hands on. Thank you in advance, fizikx.
quadrupole moment??
The problem basically states that there are three point charges: q, -2q, q, placed along the z-axis at: a, 0, -a. The problem asks to find the monopole moment, dipole moment and quadrupole moment. I've been able to get the first to, but I have no idea how to go about getting...
